A signal for responsible action

tesa is joining the UN initiative „Global Compact“

„Let us combine the power of the market with the authority of universal ideas“ – under this slogan UN Secretary General Kofi Annan created a platform to win enterprises for the enforcement of fundamental human and social rights as well as for ethically responsible action. Since March tesa now also is an official member of the UN initiative, the Global Compact.

By joining the Global Compact tesa sets a signal for the world wide compliance with ten fundamental principles from the fields of Human Rights, Labour Standards, Environmental Protection and the Combat against corruption. In a letter to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Dieter Steinmeyer, CEO of tesa SE representing the tesa group pledges to respect the collective values of the initiative and above all to actively support their world wide distribution and recognition. Representing the tesa Executive Board, Thomas Fuchs, Head of Human Resources, will seek and cultivate the dialogue with the Global Compact and its members.

We will in future regularly report about the measures tesa is going to undertake in order to take responsibility in society as well as in the environmental sector to help putting the ten principles into practice. A series of initiatives like supporting the environmental initiative B.A.U.M. for example, and several social projects at home and abroad are part of this programme that has been in practice for quite some time already.

“The Global Compact matches the basic principles that have governed our business activities since long and on which our Integrated Management System for tesa SE and its affiliates are based upon”, explains Thomas Fuchs. “In line with the Global Compact we want to take a leading role together with other enterprises and organisations on an international level in shaping globalisation.”
